‘Country’s atmosphere not good, we want unity’: Mamata Banerjee at Eid prayer meeting

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  addressed the people at Red Road in Kolkata and launched a scathing attack on the BJP government at the Centre. While attacking the Centre, the West Bengal chief minister asserted that the atmosphere of the country is not good. “Divide and rule policy is not good..isolation policy is not good…we want unity. Ishwar allah tero naam sabko sanmati de bhagwan,” she said.
“Good days will come…we are not scared, we know how to fight,” CM Mamata added.
Earlier on Monday, the West Bengal CM thanked the people of the state for the massive victory they had handed her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the Assembly polls whose results had been announced on May 2 last year.
In a series of tweets, the chief minister said the Trinamool Congress’s landslide victory symbolised the victory of democratic forces against the “high-and-mighty”, implying the BJP.
“I am ever grateful to our Ma-Mati-Manush for having shown to the high and mighty, last year on this day, the indomitable courage of Bengal. Our people showed the world that there is no bigger power than the power of people in a democracy. Our commitment to true nation-building should continue, for there are many more battles to be fought together and won together,” Mamata tweeted on Monday and dedicated the day to Ma-Mati-Manush.
With the sighting of the crescent moon yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr and hoped that the auspicious occasion enhances the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood in the country.
“Best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this auspicious occasion enhance the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood in our society. May everyone be blessed with good health and prosperity,” he said in a tweet.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims around the globe to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan.
