Winners of the inaugural edition, the Rajasthan Royals are on a roll in the ongoing 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. With six wins in eight matches played so far, the Sanju Samson-led team are in second place in the league table. They have defeated the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament so far.
And much of the credit for RR’s success goes to English wicket-keeper Jos Buttler, who is taking the 15th edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league by storm and has already scored close to 500 runs in eight matches played so far.
With three hundred and two fifty-plus scores, the 31-year-old right-hand batter has 499 runs to his name and is currently leading the Orange Cap race by a big margin. His heroics at the top have helped the Jaipur-based franchise post big totals, which their bowlers, led by Purple Cap holder Yuzvendra Chahal, successfully managed to defend to keep the side in the fray for the playoff positions.
They have 12 points from the eight matches, and four wins in the next six matches will all but secure the top two finishes for the Men in Pink. While Buttler’s heroics at the top have all but sorted RR’s batting issues, some of the players are miffed by not getting enough chances to bat.
Recently, in a video posted by the franchise’s official Twitter handle, star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was seen complaining about not getting enough chances to bat because of the Englishman. However, all the conversations in the video were in a light mood, and the 31-year-old Indian spinner was hilariously complaining.
In the eight matches played so far, only on two occasions did Yuzvendra Chahal get the chance to arrive at the crease and showcase his batting skills.
Rajasthan Royals last played against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 26, where they beat the Virat Kohli-starrer side by 29 runs to take revenge for their defeat in the third match of this year’s tournament. RR will next take on the Mumbai Indians in Match Number 44 at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy on Saturday (April 30).
