Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s upcoming comedy film Jayeshbhai Jordaar‘s trailer was released online on Tuesday. It shows Ranveer in a never-seen-before avatar. The actor, who last essayed the role of cricket legend Kapil Dev, plays a sarpanch’s son who will go to any extent to save his unborn daughter from infanticide.
During the trailer launch of the film, Ranveer was asked about the serious theme of his upcoming comedy film. While asking him about female infanticide, a journalist also asked him if he personally would like a baby boy or a girl. Here’s what the actor, who’s married to Deepika Padukone, said…

The actor said, “Actually, it is not my choice. Mandir jaaate hain toh puchte hain kya? Ladoo chaiye ya shiro (sighting a dialogue) jo bhi milta hain aise kar lelete hain. Toh upar wala chahega, wo jaise chahega, waise hi hoga mere life mein neezi zindagi mein…”
Further talking about the film’s message, the actor added, “Aise themes, ki it is a comedy, aap has rahe ho, lot pot ke haslo, but uske piche aise social themes hai, chahe wo dowry ho, domestic violence hain, female infanticide hain, the things that Divyank is able to communicate with regards to these types of things will hopefully reach and resonate with you through all the entertainment and through all the laughter. We hope that it resonates with you.”

Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, the film also features Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey and Boman Irani. The film has been directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar and produced by Maneesh Sharma. It is all set to hit the screens on May 13, 2022.
