Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul marked his 100th IPL match in style by scoring a breathtaking century vs Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Indian batting talisman reached the three-figure mark in 56 balls to mark his 3rd century in the history of the league.
By virtue of his knock, Rahul became only the second captain in the history of the league to score multiple centuries in the IPL. Virat Kohli with five centuries is the only other captain to have scored more than one century while leading the team. Rahul’s other century as skipper came in the 2020 IPL against Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Dubai International Stadium.
By virtue of his stunning century at the Brabourne Stadium, Rahul became only the fourth player in IPL history to score two or more centuries against the same opponent. The LSG skipper had reached the three-figure mark against MI in the 2019 IPL at the Wankhede Stadium in a losing cause. Apart from Rahul; Kohli, Chris Gayle, and David Warner are the other three players with multiple IPL centuries.
