RanLia fans had a collective mush meltdown yesterday when Alia Bhatt shared the first photos from her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor. Keeping it subtle and private, the couple got married at the actor’s Vastu home in the presence of their families and close friends.
Ditching the usual lehenga, the new bride opted for a saree by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. On the official Instagram handle of the designer, Alia’s attire was described as “For the wedding ceremony Alia Bhatt wears a hand dyed ivory organza sari embroidered with fine tilla work and an embroidered handwoven tissue veil. Paired with Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery featuring uncut diamonds and hand strung pearls.”
Interestingly, before Alia, actress Kangana Ranaut was seen sporting a similar drape by Sabyasachi. Kangana wore the Sabyasachi saree back in 2020 for her brother’s wedding reception. She had paired the drape with a high-neck blouse, choker necklace, matching earrings and a woolen shwal.
Prior to Kangana, Sonam Kapoor was seen wearing a similar drape in 2019. She had paired it with a short jacket. Sonam had kept her hair and makeup subtle with minimal jewellery.
Meanwhile, along with the first wedding photos, Alia had penned the sweetest note, stating that the lovebirds got married at their favourite spot. A part of her post read, “With so much already behind us, we can’t wait to build more memories together … memories that are full of love, laughter, comfortable silences, movie nights, silly fights, wine delights and Chinese bites.”
The lovebirds, who tied the knot yesterday, April 14, will reportedly host a wedding reception soon for their industry friends. Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor, however, in an interaction with the paps had said that they won’t be hosting any reception.
