The overall number of COVID-19 cases in the country have declined but few states have registered a spike in daily cases.
The emergence of the XE variant, which is a combination of both BA.1 and BA.2 subvariants of Omicron also remains a cause of concern.
Here are the states where COVID-19 cases have increased.
Delhi
The daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi have been on the rise over the last few days and the positivity rate has jumped from 0.5 per cent to 2.7 per cent in a week.
Delhi reported 325 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 299 on Wednesday and 137 on Monday, according to health department data.
Haryana
Haryana has reported over 1,200 fresh cases in over 14 days out of which over 1,000 infections were from the Gurugram district.
The district has been witnessing a rise in COVID-19 cases in the past few days.
The COVID-19 positivity rate in Haryana was 1.27 per cent on February 28, 0.41 per cent on March 31 and 2.72 per cent on April 14.
Between March 31 and April 14, Haryana added 1,211 fresh infections to its coronavirus tally.
With cases rising at the rate of nine per cent, authorities here have started a ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign in which officials will go door to door and administer vaccine doses to eligible people.
Mizoram
Mizoram reported 78 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 13 less than the previous day, with the tally rising to 2,25,901, a health department official said.
The death toll remained at 689 as no new fatality due to the infection was registered since Tuesday, he said.
Gujarat
Gujarat on Thursday registered 11 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 12,24,118, an official from the state health department said.
The count of recoveries reached 12,13,023 after five patients were discharged from hospitals, while the toll remained steady at 10,942, as no new casualties were reported, he said.
Maharashtra
After witnessing a spike in daily COVID-19 cases, the number dropped to 103 on Thursday in Maharashtra. On Wednesday, Maharashtra had logged 124 cases
