After Imran Khan loses no-trust vote, his close aide raided; PTI says ‘extremely disturbing’

Hours after Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government in Pakistan was ousted from power as he lost the no-trust motion, his close aide was allegedly raided.
Arslan Khalid, who was the focal person to the ousted prime minister on digital media, was raided, Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said in a tweet.
“Extremely Disturbing News: Ex Focal person on PM @ImranKhanPTI on Digital, Dr. @arslankhalid_m’s home has been raided & they have taken all phones from his family! He has never abused anyone on social media & never attacked any institutions. @FIA_Agency please look into it,” the PTI tweeted.
Khan, 69, lost a crucial trust vote in the National Assembly on Saturday, becoming the first premier in the country’s history to be removed through a no-confidence motion.
The no-trust motion moved by the opposition against Khan succeeded an hour past midnight on Sunday, with 174 members in the 342-strong house voting in favour of the motion.
No prime minister in Pakistan’s history was ever ousted through a no-confidence motion. Also, no Pakistani prime minister has ever completed a full five-year term in office.
Khan, in an address to the nation on Friday night ahead of the no-trust motion, said he will not accept imported government and called for street protests on Sunday evening.
Khan also reiterated that a US diplomat threatened regime change in Pakistan.
In a landmark 5-0 judgment, a five-member bench led by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday unanimously quashed the deputy speaker’s decision to dismiss the no-confidence motion against Khan and ordered the restoration of the National Assembly, saying the prime minister’s move to dissolve Parliament and call early elections was “unconstitutional”.
