Giving assurance of the development of Biroba Temple, Arewadi in Sangli, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a proposal would be soon sent to the Centre in this regard. He visited the temple on Saturday where Shri Biroba Yatra is going on.
The temple committee and community welcomed the opposition leader on the occasion. They gifted him a traditional blanket, a stick with a bell and a turban. While accepting the gift, Fadnavis said to pursue the funds with the Centre. “When I was the chief minister, I had sanctioned Rs 5 crore and some work has been done so far. MLC Gopichand Padalkar told me that a development plan of Rs 165 crore is ready and would be soon sent to the Centre. I assure you that we would seek the funds from the Centre,” the BJP leader said.
Praising the tradition to visit the temple, Fadnavis said it is the deity of the Dhangar community and others. “People come from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh. I am confident that the Centre would be positive to give help for this temple which is popular at the national level. I have appealed to the Viroba God to bless us all,” he said.
During the visit, BJP’s Maharashtra state president Chandrakant Patil, Pravin Darekar, Sadabhau Khot, Gopichand Padalkar and Sudhir Gadgil were present.
