Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claiming that he has proof that the saffron party is conspiring to make Mumbai, capital of Maharashtra, a Union Territory.
Raut, who is often at odds with the saffron party, has said that the presentations are being held to make the financial capital of the country a UT and alleged that the conspiracy is being led by BJP leader ]Kirit Somaiya.
Presentations happening in Mumbai by them (BJP) to make Mumbai a city that can be ruled by the Central government. A person who has sponsored such presentations is a big builder from Mumbai; a person from Varanasi is also involved. The entire conspiracy is led by Kirit Somaiya,” Raut told ANI.
The Shiv Sena leader further stated that Maharashtra CM Uddahv Thackeray is aware of this development and claimed that in the next few months, the group led by Somaiya is likely to move court saying the percentage of Marathi people in Mumbai has gone down drastically and hence the city should be made a UT.
Somaiya had earlier challenged the state government’s decision to make Marathi a compulsory language in schools, Raut had said.
Raut slams Center after ED attaches assets linked to him
Earlier on Thursday, Raut had lashed out at the Narendra Modi government saying that he’s not afraid of the raids by the Central agencies against him and other party leaders.
“Those who’ve announced a war against us and Maharashtra, I want to tell them that we’re ready. Maharashtra will continue to stand tall before Central agencies like ED, NCB, etc. A time will come when you’ll have to bow down on your knees before us,” he had said.
Raut’s remarks came after the Enforcement Directorate attached assets linked to him in connection with the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scam case.
