Priyamani is one such actor in the South and Hindi film industry who has never shied away from speaking her mind. Apart from holding the audience captive with her acting craft, it is her bubbly presence on social media that her fans love. From the girl next door characters to playing a doting mother and wife in The Family Man series, Priyamani has proved her mettle with each role.
An actor par excellence, Priyamani has also been vocal about body positivity, skin image issues, pressure to always look perfect as an actor, and more. In an exclusive chat the actress spoke about the above-mentioned points in detail.
With full-face makeup and groomed hair, actresses always look perfect on-screen but the reality is far different than just looking beautiful everyday. Breaking the misconception about the same, Priyamani said, “Being in the industry can take a toll on an artiste. You need to have perfect skin, dress, and hair because you will be photographed at any time. Although people need to know that it is just for half an hour.”
Artistes too like to live an off-duty normal life. From lounging in pajamas to rocking that no-makeup skin, Priyamani also loves to be herself when she steps out of her house, “I just like to be myself. I don’t need to look perfect for somebody, it is okay to have imperfections. It is absolutely normal to have flaws and it’s high time people should understand that.”
The actress also spoke about the changing face of Indian cinema and how the industry has become more warm and open towards female actors, directors, and more, “The industry has always been male-dominated but now things are changing for the better. It feels great to see more female-oriented films. Females are getting a little more importance rather than just being a ‘pretty thing’ for a song.”
On the work front, the actress has The Family Man 3 on the cards and Maidaan with Ajay Devgn.
