Ishan Kishan and MS Dhoni are two players who are share a lot of things in common. Both are wicket-keepers and dynamic batters capable of destroying bowling attacks on their day. Morever both of them are from the state- Jharkhand.
While Kishan and Dhoni never got to play for India together and yet to share a dressing room in the Indian Premier League (IPL) together, they have represented Jharkhand in domestic cricket and have been part of the same playing XI.
Kishan revealed a hilarious instance from a Vijay Hazare game when Dhoni was keeping wickets and he was in the out-field. The Mumbai Indians’ star recalled how the ex-Indian skipper’s hand-gestures left him confused and clueless.
Talking on Gaurav Kapoor’s show ‘Breakfast with Champions’; Kishan said, “When I joined the Vijay Hazare team, I was in Dhoni bhai’s side. And I was fielding at third man. Suddenly, the strike changed and Dhoni bhai was like (imitating Dhoni’s hand gestures)
“I was like ‘yeh kya ho gaya?’ (What just happened right now?). I had no idea where I had to move. I then asked the slip fielder, ‘Brother, can you ask him where should I go? Even then, Dhoni was like (imitating Dhoni’s hand gestures again). I was like ‘kidhar jau bhai main?’ (Where should I go),” he added.
Kishan has made a sensational start with the bat in the ongoing 2022 IPL for Mumbai Indians (MI) with two half-centuries in as many games. He is currently the orange cap holder. Meanwhile in his first season after leaving Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy, MS Dhoni has looked at his vintage best with the bat. He scored a half-century in the season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while playing an impressive 6-ball 16 cameo against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the second game.
However, both MI and CSK as a team have struggled so far. CSK have lost their first three games for the first time in IPL history meanwhile MI are still winless with two defeats in two outings so far.
