Memes galore on social media as FIFA reveals ‘La’eeb’ as World Cup 2022 official mascot

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) along with the draws, also revealed the official mascot for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The official mascots always add fun and excitement for probably the biggest sporting tournament across the world through the years and ‘La’eeb’ is likely to continue the trend as it brought the house down after its unveiling.
An Arabic word, La’eeb means a ‘super-skilled player’ while FIFA’s website suggested that he ‘belongs to a parallel mascot-verse that is indescribable.’
Revealing the mascot with an animated video, the Road to 2022 Twitter handle wrote, “La’eeb is an Arabic word meaning super-skilled player. The official Mascot of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is full of energy and will bring the joy of football to everyone. La’eeb believes that ‘Now is All’, and encourages everyone to believe in themselves.”
Soon after its launch, the memes flooded social media as La’eeb drew comparisons with Casper the friendly ghost, while some others suggested that he looked like Towelie from one of the episodes of the TV show South Park. Other reactions included a movie on La’eeb already existing while many said it looked like a ghost napkin.
