The BJP fact-finding committee has submitted its report on West Bengal’s Birbhum violence to party chief JP Nadda .
In the report, the BJP said that local residents have deserted their homes fearing a threat to their lives and property.
It is recommended that NHRC, NCW and NCWCR visit the area and instil confidence-building measures, the report read.
Attacking Mamata Banerjee’s government, the saffron party said that under Trinamool Congress leadership, the mafia is ruling in West Bengal in connivance with police and political leadership.
Law and order has totally collapsed, it said.
Nine people were killed in the Rampurhat area of Birbhum on Tuesday after a mob set houses on fire following the killing of TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe of the Birbhum violence case following the Calcutta High Court order.
After the violence, the BJP chief JP Nadda had formed a five-member fact-finding committee comprising four former IPS officers and West Bengal state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar.
Bharati Ghosh, Satya Pal Singh, KC Ramamurthy and Brijlal are the four former IPS officers who are part of the committee.
On Tuesday, the CBI questioned former Rampurhat sub-divisional police officer Shayan Ahmed and inspector in charge of local police station Tridip Pramanik for the second time in two days in connection with its investigation into the Birbhum carnage.
The agency also questioned TMC leader and former Rampurhat Block -1 community head Anarul Sheikh for a second day as well as others who have been arrested in the case.
Ahmed was sent on compulsory waiting while Pramanik was suspended by the authorities following the incident of March 21 night.
Meanwhile, BJP MLAs would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and complain about the “lawlessness” in the state.
