Anupam Kher’s latest movie The Kashmir Files has become the talk of the town. This movie is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, this film has become a huge success commercially. The Kashmir Files has received a thumbs-up from the audience and has touched the hearts of millions. Despite the controversies, the movie is still going strong at the box office.
Anupam Kher, who is a Kashmiri Pandit himself, has received praises for his performance in the movie. The veteran actor emphasises that the truth about Kashmiri Pandits during the time of Insurgency should be known to everyone and often keep on sharing posts related to the exodus on his social media.
Recently, Anupam Kher took to his Instagram and shared a video of himself giving a speech after the “genocide of Kashmiri Hindus” back in 1993. This 29-year-old video is from the first gathering of the victims of exodus and Anupam Kher, being a well-known personality from the community, was asked to give a speech.
The Special 26 actor wrote while sharing, “In 1993, after the genocide of #KashmiriHindus in #Kashmir, the first gathering of the victims took place in Delhi! I being a known person from the community was asked to speak. Here is my speech. It has been 32 years I have tried to be voice of helpless refugees in their own country! And now #TheKashmirFiles. We are an educated and optimistic lot. Hum Dekhenge! #BharatMataKiJai #KashmiriPandits”.
Anupam Kher also recently hit back at the people who accused The Kashmir Files of being political. During an interview with Times Now Navbharat, when the actor was asked about the film being political as his wife Kirron Kher is in BJP and it also received endorsement and support from them, Anupam said, “Not at all. This film is being made political because ‘khisiyani billi khamba noche’ (an embarrassed person who tends to vent his/her feeling by quarrelling).”
He further added, “If political patronage would have made any film successful, then the biopic of Prime Minister would have done a business of Rs 1000 crore.”
The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumaar in pivotal roles.
