Overseas players who will miss Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans fixture in IPL 2022

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will make their IPL debuts in the 4th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Wankhede Stadium on Monday (March 28). KL Rahul is the captain of LSG while Hardik Pandya is at the helm of affairs at GT. The Indian all-rounder will be making his captaincy debut in IPL against LSG.
Both the teams will aim to kick off their IPL journey on a winning note. But they will be without the services of a few players who are busy with their international commitments. The list of players who will miss the opening game also includes those who were roped in at a high amount. Here’s a look at players who will not be part of the LSG vs GT fixture.
Marcus Stoinis
The Lucknow Super Giants’ all-rounder is in Pakistan for the white-ball series against the hosts and is set to miss at least the first 4 matches of the season. The AUS-Pak series ends on April 5. The players will have to serve a 3-day isolation period after landing in India. LSG’s 5th match of the season will be on April 10 and Stoinis is likely to be available after the first 2 weeks of the season.
Jason Holder
Jason Holder was part of his national team for the Test series against England, which ended on Sunday (March 27). He is expected to land in India after a couple of days and will have to serve a three-day isolation period before joining his teammates. Holder might be available for LSG’s April 4 fixture. He joined LSG for Rs 8.75 crore.
Kyle Mayers
Kyle Mayers’ five-for gave West Indies a big 10-wicket win over England. After a successful run for his country, Mayers will be high on confidence and will hope to emulate his form for LSG. Like Holder, he might be available from the April 4 fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Back in IPL for the first time since 2019, Alzarri Joseph will miss GT’s opening fixture as he was part of WI’s Test squad. He looks set to miss the first week of the season and might be available for selection from April 2, when GT take on Delhi Capitals in Pune. Joseph joined GT for Rs 2.4 crore.
