‘If Shivraj Chouhan…’: Vivek Agnihotri, Digvijaya Singh spar over ‘genocide museum’ in Madhya Pradesh

Congress MP Digvijaya Singh has opposed the setting up of a ‘genocide museum’ in Madhya Pradesh saying the communal harmony of Bhopal cannot be disturbed.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had told ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri that the film shows the pain and sufferings of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community and promised a government land for setting up a ‘genocide museum’ in MP.
“I am totally against setting up a genocide museum in Bhopal. Will not let the communal harmony of Bhopal gets disturbed. I oppose it,” Singh tweeted on Saturday morning.
Shivraj government to provide land and necessary help for genocide museum
Chouhan had planted saplings along with Agnihotri and a few members of the Kashmiri Pandit community who have settled down in Bhopal.
“The world came to know about the pain and sufferings of Pandit families displaced from Kashmir through the film. Vivek Agnihotri has suggested that there should be a genocide museum in Madhya Pradesh. Our government will provide land and necessary help for this,” the CM said.
Responding to Singh’s tweet, Agnihotri took a swipe at the former MP CM saying he failed to even make a memorial on the Bhopal gas tragedy in 38 years.
‘You could not make a memorial on Bhopal gas tragedy in 38 years’
“Honorable Digvijaya ji, you could not make a memorial on Bhopal gas tragedy in 38 years. If Shivraj Chouhan ji is doing noble work for humanity, then why envy? To hide the failure?” Vivek Agnihotri tweeted.
‘The Kashmir Files’ director termed genocide museum the first step to “right to justice” for the persecuted and the dead and one small step to pay back to the society.
The museum will be funded by Agnihotri’s I am Buddha Foundation and KP Global.
Agnihotri was in Bhopal to attend the inaugural ceremony of the three-day Chitra Bharti Film Festival.
