The year 2022 has taken away many stars from the cinema world. From Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri to MC Tod Fod, the nation has been mourning the loss of many celebrities. And now, Bengali actor, Abhishek Chatterjee’s sudden death has sent shockwaves in the nation. Abhishek had made his screen debut with veterans like Sandhya Roy, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Tapas Paul in the Bengali film Pathbhola.
In his 36 years long career, Abhishek had worked in several films and shows. His sudden death at the age of 57 has left the Bengali film industry heart broken. His love for cinema could be understood by the fact that he was shooting for his upcoming show, when he breathed last. It is reported that he had suffered a heart attack.
According to e report in ETimes, Abhishek was unwell, and was still shooting for upcoming TV show, Ismart Jodi on March 23 when his condition deteriorated. He threw up on the sets while shooting for the show, and the crew members helped him. However, in spite of going to a hospital, he rushed back home, where his family called a doctor. Abhishek was given treatment, but late at night, he breathed his last.
In a conversation with Ananadabazar Online, actor Bharat Kaul recalled his last day when he was shooting. He mentioned that on Tuesday, Abhishek had fallens sick due to food poisoning, his BP had dropped and he was sent home around 2.30 pm.
Recalling their last meeting, Bharat said, “Abhishek first fell ill on Tuesday due to food poisoning. He was taken home after shooting for a while in that condition. He also came to shoot the reality show ‘Smart Pair’ of Star Jalsa on Wednesday. That’s where the pressure suddenly drops to 60. He was immediately given black coffee. The house was also sent around 2.30 pm. That last meeting is ours. “
Abhishek had played an important role in Bengali television serial Khorkuto starring Trina Saha and Koushik Roy. The late actor was currently playing actress Trina Saha’s father in comedy-drama, which is loved by the Bengali audience. His sudden death has left the Bengali cinema shocked and actors are mourning his loss.
