Many BJP karyakartas killed in West Bengal in last 5 years: Kailash Vijayvargiya

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya have stated that over 400 workers have been killed in West Bengal in the last five years. The BJP leader has shown concern in the recent incidents of violence in Birbhum in West Bengal. “Incidents like these have become common in Bengal. Post Vidhan Sabha, 100 karyakartas have been killed in West Bengal. In the local bodies, 50 people have even died. In the last 5 years, over 400+ BJP karyakartas have been killed,” said Kailash Vijayvargiya.
The BJP National GS also alleged that “The criminals are given protection in West Bengal.” The BJP leader also stated that democracy has been compromised in West Bengal. “Whatever that is happening in the Taliban, we can see a small glimpse of it in Bengal,” added Kailash Vijayvargiya.
After meeting the kin of the victims of those killed in the Birbhum violence, Mamata Banerjee assured that the culprits will be brought to justice. While terming the ‘massacre’ as unfortunate and gruesome, the Bengal chief minister directed the police officials present at the spot to take swift action to arrest the persons responsible for the crime.
As many as eight people were burnt to death in the Rampurhat area of West Bengal’s Birbhum on Tuesday after a mob allegedly set houses on fire following the killing of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bhadu Sheikh. At least 22 people have been arrested so far in the case, according to a senior police officer. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday took cognizance of the incident.
