Hurriyat acting with terrorist organisations: Court

While framing terror charges against sixteen accused, a special court in Delhi observed how behind the facade of peaceful organisation, All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Joint Resistance Leadership, was actively associated with terrorist organisations.
“This raises a suspicion that behind the mask of a peaceful political front, these entities and individuals were acting with terrorist organisations in a very close concert and even exercised authority to seek an explanation for their actions,” said special judge Parveen Singh.
On 16th March, a special court framed charges against Hafiz Saeed, Syed Salahuddin, Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and others. Asiya Andrabi, however, was let off on terror charges for want of evidence. Special judge Singh’s order runs into 243 pages.
“It has not been contested that the APHC and JRL do not have secessionist agenda…What has caught my attention is that as per this JRL and APHC press release…Three persons Syed Ali Geelani Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik who formed JRL had issued a joint statement and asked all political and militant organisation to follow freedom struggle with vision and wisdom”.
The judge further pointed out that the sole purpose of Hurriyat was to further its agenda of secession and to cede the erstwhile state of J&K from India. “…these excerpts which have been taken by me have been taken out for the purpose to point out that APHC & JRL are working in close contact and in coordination with the terror organisation,” said the court.
