Akhilesh Yadav takes swipe at BJP for backing ‘Kashmir Files’, says ‘Lakhimpur Files’ should also be made

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for extending its support to Bollywood flick ‘The Kashmir Files’ saying if a movie can be made on the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, a film on the violence that took place in Lakhimpur Kheri should also be made.Eight people lost their lives in 2021 on October 4 when Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Teni’s son Ashish Mishra mowed down half a dozen people under his car, including four farmers.
Talking to Aaj Tak, Yadav said a film should be made on that violence too and cornered the BJP on issues like inflation, unemployment and development.
‘The Kashmir Files’ a bold representation of truth: Amit Shah
Political analysts believed that farmers’ anger would cost the BJP electorally in the district and to some extent in western Uttar Pradesh. However, the ruling BJP is won all eight Assembly seats in the Lakhimpur Kheri district.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded ‘The Kashmir Files’ for bringing the truth in its correct form and said history has to be presented in the right context from time to time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Bollywood film as a bold representation of truth.
He further said that the film highlighted before the world the sacrifice, unbearable pain and struggle of the Kashmiri Pandits.
‘Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee the valley under the shadow of terror’
Meanwhile, Congress accused the BJP government of not doing anything for the welfare of KPs and slammed PM Modi for taking advantage of the issue by scratching old wounds.
The PM must tell the country that when Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee the valley under the shadow of terror and barbarism in 1990 what were the 85 BJP MPs doing as it was on their support that the VP Singh government was running at the Centre.
Earlier, the Kerala Congress in a series of tweets had blamed the BJP-supported VP Singh government in the 1990s and also then governor Jagmohan for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley.
In a tweet, it also compared the deaths of Muslims and Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir, but later deleted it.
