Congress junks Kapil Sibal’s ‘ghar ki Congress’ remark as ‘BJP-RSS language’

Veteran Congress leader Kapil Sibal  criticized by his party colleagues for speaking the language of ‘BJP-RSS’. Slamming the party leadership over the recent debacle in the Assembly elections, Sibal had earlier this week said that the Congress leadership was in ‘cuckoo land’.

“Leadership is in cuckoo land. I want a ‘Sab ki Congress’. Some want a ‘Ghar ki Congress’,” Sibal told The Indian Express in an interview earlier this week.

Hitting out at Sibal for his criticism, Congress Lok Sabha whip Manickam Tagore said that Sibal was talking the language of RSS-BJP. “Why the RSS and BJP want Nehru-Gandhis out of the leadership? Because without Gandhi’s leadership Congress will become Janata party. It’s easy to kill Congress then it’s easy to destroy the idea of India (sic),” Tagore said on Twitter.

Even earlier, Sibal had said that the Gandhis should step aside and hand over the party leadership to other candidates. While Sibal and other members of the G-23 group demanded leadership changes in the party in light of Congress’ lackluster show in Assembly polls, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet, on Sunday deliberated for five hours, urging Sonia Gandhi to lead the organization and drive the desired changes in the party.

“We will fight on. We will overcome. We will continue to raise your voice,” the party said. Earlier today, when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was questioned about Sibal’s remarks, he refused to answer the question and walked into the Parliament.

In the recently concluded Assembly elections, Congress was ousted from Punjab and managed to put up a dismal show in Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.
