Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab, which was released in 2016, remained in the headlines for several reasons. The crime film starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh received critical acclaim and performed well at the box office. While the controversy surrounding the theme of Udta Punjab ensured that the film grabbed eyeballs, Kareena and Shahid’s collaboration also created buzz for it.
Shahid and Kareena, who parted ways during the shoot of Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, didn’t share screen space in Udta Punjab. While the fans expected to see the former couple on the big screen, the duo didn’t have any scene together.
The journalists had questioned the two tinsel celebs about the same during the film’s press conference. When asked about their experience while working post Jab We Met, Shahid had responded with a sarcastic reply. He had said, “Mere aur Kareena ka ek bhi shot nhi hai film mein if you are asking about it. So, bada maza aaya ek doosre ke saath alag alag dino pe kaam na karke (We didn’t have any scene together in the film. So, we felt happy over shooting the movie separately on different days)
When a reporter expressed his disappointment over the lack of scenes featuring Kareena and Shahid in Udta Punjab, the duo had responded savagely. The Padmaavat star had said, “Matlab jo hua nahi iske baare me hum khush the ya dukhi the? Jo hogya, uske baare me comment kar sakte hai (You want us to comment on a thing, which never happened? We can comment on what actually happened.)”
Kareena, who was seen as a doctor in Udta Punjab, left everyone in splits with her sassy reply. “And the DVD of Jab We Met is always available,” the Veere Di Wedding actress had said.
On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. The much-awaited film, which is the Indian adaptation of Forrest Grump, will now release in August 2022.
Talking about Shahid, the talented actor will entertain the audience with Jersey. The sports drama co-starring Mrunal Thakur was originally slated to hit the silver screens in December 2021; however, the makers postponed the release due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. It will arrive in the cinema halls on April 14, 2022.
