The Odisha Panchayat election results will be declared on Monday. As per the official figures of the State Election Commission (SEC), Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has so far won 268 Zilla Parishad seats of the 300 declared so far. Opposition BJP and Congress bagged only 14 seats each. Independent candidates managed to win two seats and Other parties also won two seats.
The votes for 305 seats in the Odisha Panchayat election 2022 were counted on February 27, while votes for the rest 231 will be counted today.
A total of 851 Zilla Parishad seats went to the polls, while one seat was decided uncontested in this year’s Odisha Panchayat election.
As per the latest figures released by the state poll plane, the ruling BJD has won or is leading at present in 329 of 379 seats. BJP is at second position at 19 and Congress at 17.
In a huge setback for the BJP, Patnaik’s BJP has taken hold of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Malkangiri in the recently concluded Odisha Zilla Parishad elections 2022.
It may be noted that the saffron party had bagged around 35 per cent of the seats in the 2017 Odisha panchayat election.
The voting for the Odisha panchayat election 2022 were held on February 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24, with a voter turnout of 78.6 per cent.
