The Indian embassy in Ukraine issued a fresh advisory as Russia launched a full-scale invasion in the country. The embassy appealed to Indian nationals, to remain calm and safe and asked them to not venture out on the streets.

The Indian embassy asked its nationals to not travel to Kyiv and advised those travelling from western parts of Kyiv to return to their respective cities.

It said more advisories will be released.

“The present situation in Ukraine is highly uncertain. Please maintain calm and remain safe wherever you are, be it in your homes, hostels, accommodations or in transit,” the Indian embassy in Kyiv tweeted.

“All those who are traveling to Kyiv, including those traveling from western parts of Kyiv, are advised to return to their respective cities temporarily, especially towards safer places along the western bordering countries. Further advisories will be issued for any updates,” the embassy further added.

More than 20,000 Indian nationals, including students, are staying in different parts of Ukraine.

As Russia launched its military operation, Ukraine today closed its airspace to civilian flights in view of high risk to safety.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador TS Tirumurti said that over 20,000 Indian nationals, including students, are located in different parts of Ukraine. “We are facilitating the return of all Indian nationals, including Indian students, as required,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin today ordered military operation in eastern Ukraine just as UNSC was holding emergency meeting on the crisis.

As Russian troops launched their attack on Ukraine, Putin warned the countries contemplating to interfere would lead to “consequences you have never seen”.
