My nature isn’t such that I will harm somebody’s career: Wriddhiman Saha refuses to reveal journo’s identity

Senior Indian glovesman Wriddhiman Saha, who is under fire to reveal the name of an Indian journalist who threatened him over a chat, has broken his silence amidst pressure from all corners to reveal the identity. Saha, who was recently dropped from Indian squads, took to social media to announce that while he was hurt with the journalist’s message, he won’t reveal the identity of the journalist.

“I was hurt and offended. I thought not to tolerate such kind of behaviour and didn’t want anyone to go through these kind of bullying. I decided I will go out and expose the chat in public eye, but not his/her name,” Saha wrote on Twitter.

He went on to add that his nature is not like he would want to end somebody’s career.

“My nature isnt such that I will harm anyone to the extent of ending someone’s career. So on grounds of humanity looking at his/her family, I am not exposing the name for the time being. But if any such repetition happens, I will not hold back,” Saha added.

“I thank each and everyone who has shown support and extended their willingness to help. My gratitude,” he concluded.

Earlier, Saha made another revelation where he said Indian head coach Rahul Dravid suggested him to “take a decision” as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wasn’t considering him for selection in the near future and that he might not be selected for the Sri Lankan tour as the board was keen on grooming a young keeper-batsman.

When asked to share his views on Saha’s comments, Dravid said he wanted to give clarity to Saha and that these are the type of conversations he regularly has with the players.

“I am not actually hurt at all, I have deep respect for Wriddhiman Saha and his achievements and his contribution to Indian cricket. My conversation with him came from that place, I just felt that he deserved honesty and clarity. I did not want him to learn about it from the media. These are conversations I constantly have with players and I am not hurt about it. I do not expect players to always like the messages or to agree with everything I have to say,” said Dravid during a virtual press conference.

“You have difficult conversations with people, sometimes you need to have them with players and you do not expect them to agree with you every time. I truly believe in having those conversations every time playing XI is picked. Even now, Rohit and I will speak to the guys who are not playing. It is natural for players to get hurt and feel respect, because of the respect I have for Wriddhiman, he deserved honesty and clarity,” he added.
