Rahul Gandhi is a fake Gandhi, says union minister Giriraj Singh

Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday called Rahul Gandhi a “fake Gandhi” after the latter’s ‘Hindutvavadi’ remark on Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary.

Singh also said that Bapu’s dreams are being realised only by the BJP-led government.

While speaking to media, the union minister said, “Rahul Gandhi is a fake Gandhi. The BJP-led government and Yogi government are working on fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams.”

India observed Martyrs’ Day today to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to honour his contribution towards the freedom of the country.

Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead on this day in 1948 by Nathuram Godse.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “A ‘Hindutvawadi’ had shot Gandhi ji. All ‘Hindutvawadis’ feel that Gandhiji is no more. Where there is truth, Bapu is still alive there,” using the hashtag ‘Forever Gandhi’.

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also trained guns at Rahul Gandhi claiming the Congress leader “suffers” from “Modi-phobia”.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, posting a quote by him on ahimsa (non-violence).

The Congress, on its official Twitter handle, said, “We pay our tribute to the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary. On this day, also observed as Martyrs’ day, we salute all the brave men and women who laid their lives for the country.”

“Our beloved Bapu may not be amongst us today to lead us through these tough times but his ways of fighting fearlessly & relentlessly against tyranny, apathy, injustice & falsehood continue to guide us in our quest for a prosperous & progressive India,” the party added,
