Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati took a potshot at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi over her remarks regarding the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Taking to Twitter, the BSP supremo said that the condition of the Congress party is so miserable that its CM face for the UP polls changed her stand within a few hours.
“The condition of the Congress party is so miserable in the UP Assembly elections that their CM candidate changed her stand within a few hours. It would be better, if people do not waste their vote by giving it to the Congress. And vote one-sided for the BSP,” Mayawati said in a tweet in Hindi.
Terming Congress as a party that divides the opposition votes against the BJP, Mayawati urged voters to ignore it and vote for the party.
“People of UP see the Congress as a vote cutting party. If the BJP needs to be kept out of power in favour of a government which works for all the sections of the society, then the BSP holds the number one place in this context,” she wrote.
Launching the Congress’ elections manifesto for the youth in Delhi earlier this week, Gandhi, on being asked about the CM face of the party in UP, had said that “are you seeing any face from UP in the Congress?”
The Congress general secretary later in an interview on Saturday had said that she is not the only face of the party.
Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will be done on March 10.
