The news of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s separation shook the internet last year. The power couple, who had left many gushing with their fairytale romance, left many heartbroken when they announced their decision to split. Years ago, when Chaitanya and Samantha decided to make their relationship public, it was Nagarjuna Akkineni whom the actor first told about their relationship. 

Chaitanya made this revelation in an interview in 2016. The actor had revealed that his dad Nagarjuna Akkineni already had an inkling about their relationship. 

“The first person that I told was my father. The minute he heard the news, he looked at me and said, ‘You’re telling me this now but I’ve known all along,” the actor had told The New Indian Express. Chaitanya had also shared that both the families – Akkinenis and Prabhus were supportive and happy about the duo’s relationship. 

While Samantha and Chaitanya had been dating for some time before they made it official, the actor had explained the reason behind keeping their relationship under wraps for a period of time. Chaitanya had said that since he’s always been a private person, he never felt the need to speak about the relationship in public. While his close friends had known about it for a long time, they planned to get married after they told their families about their romance. Throughout their marriage, the two never failed to be each other loudest cheerleaders. Whether it was sharing photos on social media or penning love-filled captions for each other, the duo did it all. 

Years after their marriage, however, the duo parted ways in September 2021. Samantha and Chaitanya had taken to social media to inform fans about their decision. “We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us,” read a part of their post on Instagram.
