Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who joined the BJP today, said that she has the blessings of his father-in-law.
Speaking to Times Now, Yadav said that she joined the saffron party because of its inclination towards nationalism.
She joined the BJP in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and party’s state president Swatantra Dev Singh.
Yadav said that she has always been impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work, adding that the nation’s interest has always been her priority.
“For me, the nation’s interest has always been the most important thing. I have chosen BJP to work for my nation and I want to contribute my entire life to the country. I admire this party because of its inclination towards nationalism,” she said.
When asked if she has the support of his father-in-law, she said, “Mulayam Singh Yadav’s blessings are with me. I haven’t parted ways with my family.”
Responding to a question about the possibility of contesting the Uttar Pradesh elections, Yadav said whatever the party decides, she will accept that.
On being asked who is the better Chief Minister candidate between BJP’s Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, she asserted, “BJP candidate Yogi Adityanath will form government in Uttar Pradesh once again and he will again become CM.”
Aparna Yadav is the wife of Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife. SP president Akhilesh Yadav is Mulayam’s son from the first marriage.
In the 2017 Assembly elections, she had contested from Lucknow Cantt as Samajwadi Party candidate but faced defeat at the hands of BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi, now a Lok Sabha member.
Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7 to elect the 403 members of the state Assembly. The results will be announced on March 10.
