Virat Kohli’s sudden exit as the Test captain of Indian cricket has lefthe cricket fraternity in shock. Even though Team India once again failed short to win a series in the rainbow nation, Kohli was expected to keep the top job for a long time as he wasn’t leading the team in white-ball formats.

But he will now be available only as a player and will be donning his 100th Test cap under a new captain next month. Social media is flooded with wishes for Kohli, who had stepped down as the T20I captain in September 2021.

Cricketers from all around the world are praising Kohli for his dominating run as the Test captain. A few Pakistan players have also reacted to Kohli’s resignation and heaped praise on the India legend.

“@imVkohli brother for me u are a true leader  of upcoming generation in cricket because u are inspiration for young Cricketers. keep rocking on and of the field,” wrote former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir.

“A remarkable journey, career and perseverance which brought us great cricket and entertainment. A brilliant inspiring player of the sport takes a bow. Well done @imVkohli in all your efforts and leading a team with such poise and dignity. Go well !” wrote Azhar Mahmood, who also played IPL.

Kohli has never played a Test match against Kohli as the two teams don’t play bilateral series. Though he has captained the Men in Blue against Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is.

Kohli, who took over the Test captaincy from MS Dhoni in 2015, exits the top job as the most successful Indian skipper. Under him, India won 40 out of 68 Test matches. Team India kept the top spot in the ICC rankings for a long time and in 2021, they played the final of the World Test Championship.
