Rs 1000 per month for all women, free electricity: Arvind Kejriwal puts forth 10 point ‘Punjab Model’ ahead of polls

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal  put forth a 10 point ‘Punjab Model’ ahead of state assembly elections. Addressing a gathering in Mohali, the Aam Aadmi Party chief promised to make Punjab prosperous within the next five years – to the point that “youth who went to Canada for employment will return”.

With a little more than one month left for the state elections, Kejriwal assured that his party would provide employment for all and revolutionise healthcare and education. Promising to create a “peaceful Punjab”, he also said that the AAP government would solve farmers’ issues and ensure ‘pro-business governance’.

“If voted to power, we will wipe out the drug syndicate from Punjab, ensure justice in all cases of sacrilege, and end corruption. We will set up 16,000 mohalla clinics and provide free treatment to every Punjabi. We will also provide 24/7 free electricity,” he vowed.

The AAP chief also promised to give Rs 1000 per month to every woman above the age of 18 if the AAP was elected to power in Punjab.

The AAP which is presently the largest Opposition party in Punjab however acknowledged that their expected vote share would be affected if the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha decided to contest the polls. Led by Balbir Singh Rajewal, the political group which represents 22 Kisan Unions had recently joined hands with the newly formed Bhartiya Arthik Party (BAP).

Addressing the ongoing furore over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy being stuck on a flyover while en-route to an event, Kejriwal assured that an AAP-led government would ensure that necessary security was provided to the PM and the common people. “The PM’s security breach is a serious issue. The Congress government has failed to provide security to the Prime Minister and common people. If AAP forms the government in Punjab, we will ensure that we provide necessary security to the PM and the common people,” he added during an event in Chandigarh.
