On a day Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tested positive for Covid-19, his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi called the former “a disease like coronavirus which we don’t want”.
“Kejriwal is like coronavirus for Punjab. We do not want diseases from outside,” Channi said.
Addressing a public meeting in Punjab’s Morinda, Channi said, “I called the Chief Minister of Delhi in the morning and inquired about his condition and said that I pray that he gets well soon. But Kejriwal wants to rule Punjab by coming from outside. He is like coronavirus for Punjab. We should not take such a disease that comes from outside and catches us.”
Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and has isolated himself at home.
The Delhi CM urged all those who came in contact with him over the past few days to quarantine and get tested.
“I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms. Have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch wid (with) me in last few days, kindly isolate urself (yourself) and get urself tested,” Kejriwal said on Twitter.
This is reportedly the first time he has contracted the viral infection.
Last year in April, his wife Sunita had tested positive for Covid-19, and despite developing some symptoms, the CM tested negative.
