This is the type of person you want around the team: Ex-Pak skipper hails Dravid for statement on Virat Kohli

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has hailed Indian head coach Rahul Dravid for his public support to Virat Kohli in the pre-match press conference before the second Test match between India and South Africa.

In the build-up of the second game in Johannesburg, Dravid hailed Kohli’s leadership and called it a pleasure to work alongside him. Dravid also played down concerns over the Indian Test skipper’s poor form and claimed that a big score is around the corner.

But hailed Dravid’s words as a fantastic display of man-management amid the controversy surrounding Kohli in recent days and called the Indian coach the exact type of person you need around the team.

Talking on his Youtube channel, Butt said, “This is called man management. This is their real work as a coach or as a manager, what Dravid did yesterday. And despite what is going around, he hailed Kohli and backed him to score big as well. I enjoyed that.

“He is doing a superb job. So he got his team together. He did not join the discussion involving the chief selector or the chairman on whatever misunderstanding that might have happened. This is the type of person you want around your team.”

Butt also slammed Indian chief selector Chetan Sharma for his comments about the ODI captaincy change and claimed there was no need for him to bring up the topic once again.

Talking about the match, India were hit by a major blow on the first morning of the second Test as Kohli was ruled out of the game due to an upper back spasm. KL Rahul is leading the Indian side in his absence.

South Africa has made a brilliant start to the game by taking three wickets in the first session. Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane have been dismissed as India finds itself 53/3 at Lunch on day 1.
