Making his presence felt in the action-packed Big Bash League (BBL) on Sunday, Pakistani speedster Mohammad Hasnain bowled a memorable first bowler in match No.32 of the T20 tournament between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunders at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Wasting no time in making an impact for the Sydney Thunders, Pakistani debutant Hasnain entered his name in the history books by taking three wickets inside his first over of the celebrated tournament.
Spearheading the pace attack of the Chris Green-led side, Hasnain became the first bowler in BBL history to take three wickets in his first over of the elite competition. Hasnain bagged his maiden wicket by getting the better of Matthew Short in the 3rd over of Adelaide Strikers’ innings. The Pakistani fast bowler then removed Jake Weatherald on the next delivery.
Though Hasnain failed to take a stunning hat-trick, the Pakistani speed merchant made amends by taking the wicket of Jonathan Wells on the second-last ball of his first BBL over. Hasnain recorded a historic triple-wicket maiden on his BBL debut at the age of 21 as the Pakistan pacer earned plaudits from the entire cricket fraternity.
Hasnain bowled four overs and leaked 20 runs with an economy of 5.00 in the low-scoring contest. Hasnain’s bowling heroics paved the way for Sydney Thunders to register a comfortable win over Adelaide Strikers in match No.32 of the BBL. In his much-promising career for Pakistan, Hasnain has played 8 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 18 T20IS for the former world champions.
The Pakistani youngster made his international debut against Australia at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 2019. While Hasnain delivered the goods with the ball for the Sydney-based side, opener Matthew Gilkes fired the Chris Green-led team to a match-winning total of 172 in the 20-over contest. Gilkes smashed a quick-fire 93 off 57 balls as Sydney Thunders defeated Peter Siddle-led Adelaide Strikers by 28 runs at the Showground Stadium.
