When it comes to acing any complex character on the silver screen, Ranveer Singh is the man. Right from brave Peshwa of Maratha empire in Bajirao Mastani to menacing Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, Ranveer showcased his versatility by delivering knockout performance while playing these characters.
In a recent interaction, the actor revealed that he is one of the actors who goes deep into his characters and changes every element required for that portrayal including the diet, body language, temperament and others. He also shared that his wife and actress Deepika Padukone often complains that she sees a new human being in him after 6-8 months.
Talking to E Times, the actor spoke about his prep for the character and said, “I am somebody who goes deep into his character to develop it. My entire vibration that I exude, changes with the new character that I get into.”
Sharing his wife Deepika Padukone’s thought, he added, “My wife Deepika is very patient with me. She does lovingly complain that she gets to see a new human being every 6-8 months. I joke with her back that variety is the spice of life, at least she isn’t getting bored with the same kind of person. There’s a certain core about me that she is privy to. I layer out different layers as I get into different characters, but she understands this. My diet, body language, temperament, responses – all change. Sometimes I feel I am still finding out who I am.”
Meanwhile, the actor is garnering rave reviews for his portrayal of legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83. The film also featured Deepika Padukone as Romi Dev. Interestingly, she also co-produced this biographical sports drama.
The actor will be next seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which marks the directorial debut of Divyang Thakkar. It is produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It marks the Bollywood debut of Arjun Reddy actress Shalini Pandey with Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Deeksha Joshi playing supporting characters. In the film, Ranveer portrays the character of a Gujarati man, who believes in equal rights between men and women in society. The film is set to hit the screens on February 25, 2022.
