hennai Super Kings’ (CSK) pacer Lungi Ngidi seems to be disappointed after being benched for four games in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The 24-year-old recently expressed his frustration on social media and sort of confirmed at being disappointed with the team management.
Ngidi, who had first joined the franchise in 2018, has only played two matches in the ongoing season. CSK have too many options in the pace bowling department, which could see Ngidi not getting a chance now.
“There’s a lot of bad things that they wishing on me,” he wrote on Twitter. Commenting on his tweet, a user opined that he deserves a ‘better’ IPL side. Ngidi has surprised the CSK fans by liking the user’s tweet.
Ngidi played a key role in CSK’s success in his first IPL season and scalped 11 wickets in seven matches. He missed IPL 2019 due to side strain. CSK decided against releasing him for IPL 2020. Since Ngidi has only played two matches so far, he can be traded to another team if CSK want to release him.
CSK’s poor run in IPL 2020
The most consistent team in the history of IPL, CSK have struggled in the ongoing season. They are placed at the sixth spot with just two wins from six matches. At one stage, they were also placed at the last spot. The Yellow Army can still qualify for the playoffs but they will have to win the next 6-7 matches.
They have badly struggled on the batting front in Suresh Raina’s absence. Barring Faf du Plessis, no other batsman has performed consistently. Low strike-rates have hurt the team. Skipper MS Dhoni has also struggled to up the ante while batting. Despite coming in to bat in the seventh over against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he failed to the job and remained unbeaten on 47 off 36.
A few more defeats at this stage can rule CSK out from a place in the playoffs.
