The Bhartiya Janata Party will launch five Jan Vishwas Yatras in Uttar Pradesh from different places in the poll-bound state on December 19. The sixth yatra will start on December 20. the decision was taken after a meeting held by state general secretary Sunil Bansal on Saturday.

According to agency reports, the Jan Vishwas Yatras will be flagged off by senior BJP leaders from Mathura, Jhansi, Bijnor, Ballia and Ambedkarnagar. The yatras, aimed at reaching out to the voters ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022, will cover all the 403 Assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state.

Among BJP leaders who are likely to flag off the Jan Vishwas Yatras include BJP president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh election committee chief Dharmendra Pradhan among others. There has, however, been no official confirmation regarding the participation of these leaders.

BJP wants to replicate the 2017 win

Before the 2017 Assembly elections as well, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had taken out four parivartan yatras that were flagged off by then party chief Amit Shah. It is believed that the party wants to replicate in 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls success with its Jan Vishwas Yatras.

A joint rally of the BJP and Nishad party is slated to take place in Lucknow on December 17. Sanjay Nishad, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and leader of the Nishad Party had previously said that Home Minister Amit Shah would be attending the rally in which inclusion of Nishads in the scheduled caste (SC) category is expected.
