Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said that the ‘red cap’ will oust the BJP from power in the next Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
People wearing red caps, a trademark headgear of Samajwadi Party members, are ‘red alerts’ for the BJP, the SP chief said.
His remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a dig at the Samajwadi Party, said in Gorakhpur that those wearing red caps are after red beacon and are a red alert to Uttar Pradesh.
The PM also said that the ‘red caps’ want power for scams, filling their coffers, illegal encroachments and for providing freedom to the mafia.
Responding to this, Akhilesh, in a tweet in Hindi, listed some “red alerts” for the BJP.
For the BJP, there is a red alert of inflation, of unemployment, of the bad plight of farmers and labourers, of Hathras and Lakhimpur Kheri incidents of the oppression of women and youths, of a destroyed education system, business and health, besides the red cap, which will oust the BJP from power,” he said.
He further said that there will be an “inquilab” (revolution) of red and change in 2022.
This is not a new language as UP CM Yogi Adityanath too had spoken about ‘red caps’ earlier, he said.
“Red is the colour of emotions. BJP doesn’t understand emotions. Life exists because of the red colour in it. What is the colour of blood? Red is the colour of revolution, of change, the former UP CM said.
People of UP want development, Yadav said and lashed out at the Union government over the death of farmers during protests.
“Farmers continued to protest, they died. Did government understand their emotions? MPs are sitting on protest. Can government understand their emotions? BJP can’t understand emotions. It’s getting ousted from UP. There will be a change in UP,” Akhilesh predicted.
