India vs New Zealand: R Ashwin reacts hilariously to Wasim Jaffer’s rib-tickling banter on his economical bowling

Team India has found what they were looking for all this while! Rohit Sharma-led India scripted their first bilateral series win against New Zealand on Friday (November 19) at Ranchi. This was the maiden series win since the appointment of the legendary Rahul Dravid as head coach on a full-time basis.

Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer, however, went about congratulating the team’s brilliant performance in the ongoing T20I series against the Kiwis in a rather unusual yet quirky and unique manner, which complements his sense of humour perfectly. Jaffer took to Twitter and shared a rib-ticking post aimed at veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s fantastic spell with the ball on both occasions where Rohit and Co. emerged as victors so far at Jaipur and Ranchi.

The 43-year-old ex-India opener, who also holds the distinction of being the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy cricket, has a way with words and loves sharing witty puns/jokes about Team India’s recent performances in world cricket.

On this occasion, it was Ashwin’s turn to face the brunt of Jaffer’s chucklesome memes as he subtly appreciated the stellar bowling figures Ashwin has registered against the Blackcaps in the T20I series so far.

“Recently @ashwinravi99 invited me for a cheeseburger and served this So I’m not surprised at all with how economical he has lately been #INDvNZ,” tweeted Jaffer. But the cherry on the cake of his post was the unbelievably comical photo that he shared to make sense of his banter on Ashwin’s bowling against New Zealand.

Ashwin replied to Jaffer’s creatively thought out pun with his economical spells against the Kiwis by saying, “Wasim bhai” accompanied by three laughing emojis and a folded hands emoji implying a gesture of his joke being too good to digest. Earlier, Jaffer’s tweets won over the internet during the ICC World T20 2021 mega event as well.

While the 35-year-old Chennai-born spin wizard ended up with figures of 2/23 from his sensational spell of 4 overs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as India won the 1st T20I by 5 wickets (2 balls left), Ashwin rose to the occasion yet again by managing to take 1/19 from his allotted quota of 4 overs during the 2nd T20I at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi where the Men in Blue defeated the Kiwis by 7 wickets (16 balls left) to clinch the series by 2-0.

With the 3rd and final T20I taking place tomorrow (November 21) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Jaffer has surely hyped Ashwin up enough to expect another starry evening from the stalwart with the ball.
