Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the 82nd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference on Wednesday via video conferencing and said, “Democracy is not just a system for India. Democracy is ingrained in our nature and part of life in India”.
The prime minister emphasised taking everyone along which would help in taking India to new heights.
“In the years to come, we have to take the nation to new heights. We have to achieve extraordinary goals. This resolve can be completed only with the efforts of everyone,” he said.
He further stressed that “we have to take the country to newer heights, achieve extraordinary goals in the years to come. These resolutions will be fulfilled only by ‘Sabka Prayas’’. And in democracy, in the federal system of India, when we talk about ‘Sabka Prayas’, then the role of all the states is a big basis for that”.
The Prime Minister said that because of everyone’s efforts, the solutions to the decade-old problems of the Northeast or completion of all the big projects of development that have been stuck for decades, many such works in the country have been done in the past years.
Noting down the achievement of administering over 1 billion COVID vaccine doses, PM Modi said that the nation fought this big battle in unity by bringing all the states together, this is historic in itself.
“Today India has crossed the milestone of 110 crore vaccine doses. Something that seemed impossible once, is now becoming possible,” he said.
While addressing the Presiding Officers’ Conference in Shimla, the prime minister advocated for ‘One Nation One Legislative’ platform to boost the Indian parliamentary system.
“A portal that not only gives the necessary technological boost to our parliamentary system, but also works to connect all the democratic units of the country”, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister insisted that the traditions and systems of the Houses of our legislatures should be inherently Indian. He called for policies and laws of the Government to strengthen the Indian emotion of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
“Most importantly, our own conduct in the house should be according to Indian values. It is the responsibility of all of us”, PM Modi added.
“In the thousands of years of development, we have come to realize that in the midst of diversity, flows the grand, divine and unbroken stream of unity. This unbroken stream of unity, cherishes our diversity, preserves it”, he said.
“One of my ideas is of ‘One Nation One Legislative’ platform – a portal that’ll not only give a technological boost to our Parliamentary system but also work to connect democratic units of the nation,” PM Modi said
While proposing healthy time, healthy day for quality debates in the House, PM Modi said, “Can we reserve 3-4 days in a year in the House, for the public representatives, doing something special for the society, telling the country about this aspect of their social life.”
