When Rajkummar Rao had just Rs 18 in his bank account; didn’t have money to eat or buy proper clothes

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is on cloud-9! The actor is getting hitched to his long-time ladylove Patralekhaa in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh, today, November 15. As per reports, the wedding is being hosted at a remote seven star destination. The couple, who had a pre-wedding ceremony on November 13, followed it with a mehendi-sangeet ritual on November 14 and will now follow it with the wedding.

While things may be going for Rajkummar Rao in the best possible today, things were not always that great. Back in 2019, the actor, in an interview had opened up about his days of struggle.

In an interaction with Pinkvilla, the actor had aid that he didn’t have enough money to eat or “buy clothes” at that time. Rajkummar, who made his Bollywood debut with Love, Sex Aur Dhokha in 2010, revealed, sometimes he only had Rs 18 in his account and it was extremely hard for him to even meet his basic requirements.

The actor had said, “When I came to the city, we were living in a really small house. I was paying Rs 7000 of my share, which I thought was too much. I needed around Rs 15-20000 every month to survive and there were times I would get a notification that I have only Rs 18 left in my account.”

The actor had further added, “It used to be tough times for me. I come from a very humble middle-class background and there was a time in school when I didn’t have money and my teachers paid my school fees for two years.”

During his interaction, the actor had spoken about his journey in FTII and said that sometimes he did not even have money to buy a decent t-shirt. The actor said that FTII is a really big community and that sometimes, they would borrow money, while at other times, they would just go to their houses and share their meal.

“I didn’t have enough money to even buy proper T-shirts. There’s a friend of mine – Vinod – who’s also an actor and we used to travel for auditions on our bikes. I knew nothing about the presentation – of how to look, what to wear. With the pollution around, we would just get down and clean other’s face with rose water and think that it’s the best version of ourselves,”  he revealed.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Rajkummar has a special gift for his wife. As per reports, Rajkummar had been writing handwritten letters to Patralekhaa ever since they started dating. Some of these letters were never given to Patralekhaa and are still with Rajkummar. It seems that the actor will be gifting his ladylove these letters on their wedding day.
