Yogi Adityanath has Ayodhya-like plans for Kashi on November 19

In line with his approach to reclaim the lost Hindu glory of religious places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly made mega plans to put up a show in Kashi, reminiscent of the iconic Deepotsav in Ayodhya on Diwali.

Saying that the Deepotsav in Ayodhya is an example of how places of pilgrimage should be illuminated, Yogi said that there would be a similar celebration in Kashi on November 19.

He made the announcements while addressing a gathering in Vrindavan, where he inaugurated the 10-day ‘Braj Raj Utsav’ and ‘Hunar Haat’ yesterday.

Yogi is set to perform a ‘pran pratishtha’ puja of the Maa Annapurna idol, which was stolen 100 years ago and is now returning ‘home’ from Canada, on November 15 in Kashi.

State additional chief secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi has said that the idol will be installed in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on November 15.

“Before this, as it is a proud moment for every Indian, the statue of Maa Annapurna will be received with fanfare at four places including Kasganj, Kanpur, Ayodhya and Kashi. People will be given an opportunity to do darshan,” he said.

Grand celebrations were held in Delhi to mark the handing over ceremony of the 18th-century idol to the Uttar Pradesh government by the Centre.

The idol of Maa Annapurna was dressed in red lehenga while a silver chhatr was placed on her head. The statue sat on a grand wooden throne.

It will cover a journey of 800 kilometres from Delhi to Kashi Vishwanath temple.
