Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a virtual review meeting with districts having low vaccination coverage, on November 3.

The Prime Minister will hold the meeting upon his return from abroad after attending the G20 Summit and COP26, according to Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting to be held at 12 noon via video conferencing will include districts with less than 50 per cent coverage of the first dose and low coverage of the second dose of COVID vaccine.

Prime Minister will interact with district magistrates of over 40 districts in Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and other states with districts having low vaccination coverage. Chief Ministers of these States will also be present on the occasion.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed 106 crore on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry said.

The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level, the ministry underlined.

The nationwide vaccination drive was rolled out in January this year giving priority to the healthcare workers. The programme was later expanded for frontline workers and for those above 60 years of age and people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

The country launched vaccination for all people aged more than 45 years from April 1. The government made every person above the age of 18 years eligible for a vaccine shot from May.

The Centre has planned to vaccinate its adult population by the end of this year.
