The Parliament of India is expected to conduct the Winter Session from November 29 till December 23, sources have informed.

The Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has already finalised a proposal in this regard.

The Winter Session of the Parliament was not conducted last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Monsoon Session this year was marred by protests by the Opposition over the Pegasus spyware matter and the Centre’s three contentious farm laws.

The previous Parliament session was cut short by two days ahead of its scheduled sine die adjournment.

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had in August expressed his concerns over the increasing disruptions during Parliament proceedings, and called for a people’s movement against it.

Meanwhile, this will the first Parliament Session to be held after the Standing Committees were reconstitued earlier this month.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had in consultation with Naidu reconstituted the Parliamentary Standing Committees across various departments on October 9.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was retained as the Chairman of the panel on Information Technology, while fellow party veteran Anand Sharma will continue to chair the Parliamentary Panel on Home Affairs. Former Union minister Jairam Ramesh has retained the chairmanship of the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
