David Warner reacts hilariously as fan requests Sunrisers Hyderabad to retain him before IPL 2022 mega-auction

David Warner had an Indian Premier League (IPL) season to forget with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Once an automatic selection in their playing XI, Warner just wasn’t sacked from captaincy, he was also left out after his below-par strike-rate during the India leg of the season.

Back in the final XI in UAE, Warner once again found himself sitting on the bench after managing 2 runs in as many matches. While the fans haven’t seen him play much of late, Warner is still in the limelight. The former SRH skipper has been quite active on social media and has been replying to fans.

Recently, his comment of not visiting the stadium went viral and Warner was spotted in the stands in the very next fixture. Now, Warner’s response to a fan requesting SRH to retain him is going viral.

Since there’s a mega-auction for the next edition of the league, the franchises will only be able to retain 3 or 5 players. Given his form in IPL 2021, Warner looks set to be back in the auction. But a fan requested SRH to retain their former skipper. Warner came up with a hilarious reaction to the request hinting that he is done with his stint at SRH

Warner was dropped during the India leg after he only managed 193 runs in 6 matches. He also struggled on the captaincy front as SRH only managed 1 win from 6 matches under him. He was replaced by Kane Williamson, who had led SRH in IPL 2018 and 2019.

SRH continued to struggle in the UAE leg as well and only managed 2 wins from 7 matches there. Unlike Warner, Williamson has only played for the Orange Army and it will be interesting to see if is retained or not.

Before IPL 2018 mega-auction, SRH had retained Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The franchise releasing all its players before the mega-auction might not come as a surprise to the fans.
