PM Modi to unveil PM GatiShakti National Master Plan on October 13

With an aim to boost infrastructure development in the country and to generate employment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the Gati Shakti Master Plan next week. PM on 15th August announced the launch of Rs 100 lakh crore ‘Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan.’

The plan encompasses infrastructure advancements that focus on networks between streets, rail, air, & streams to build a holistic infrastructure.

“In the coming days, we will launch PM Gati Shakti Plan, a 100 lakh crore infrastructure plan which will make a foundation for holistic infrastructure and give an integrated pathway to our economy. Gati Shakti will help local manufacturers turn globally competitive; also develop possibilities of new future economic zones. Rs 100 lakh crore Gatishakti initiative will bring employment opportunities for youth, help in holistic infrastructure growth,” PM had said.

A News18 report cited government sources saying that the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space applications and Geo-informatics under Ministry of Information Technology (MeITY) has prepared the Geo-spatial Digital platform for the National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity with 200 layers of GIS mapping of the entire country.

As per the national daily report, state governments are also being reached out to join the platform as partners for holistic planning of all infrastructure and connectivity projects. The plan reportedly has details of all projects built till 2020-21 and has been fed with all central projects of the 16 departments that are envisioned till year 2025. All states have been asked to join on October 13 when the PM launches the plan.

“The PM is very keen to ensure that this project is taken to the ground so that common man benefits,” a source in the government told News18. They further revealed that after the launch, central and state bureaucrats will interact in a national conference for one more day on the ‘Plan’ along with private stakeholders and domain experts on various themes.

It is worth noting that the plan is expected to be a major boost for job creation at a time when the country is recovering from a pandemic. The plan will boost eco-growth, attracting foreign investors and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness thereby enabling smooth transportation of goods, people and services and creating employment opportunities.

The government had also announced the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) envisaging Rs 111 lakh crore of investment which will be supplemented by the National Monetisation Plan (NMP) to the extent of about Rs 6 lakh crore. The National Infrastructure Pipeline and National Monetisation Pipeline coupled with a Gatishakti vision is expected to lead to seamless movement of goods and services and generation of employment opportunities in the entire country.
