Former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has a knack for making headlines with his obnoxious statements about players and teams plying their trade in the international arena of the gentlemen’s game. In the latest episode of Razzaq turning heads, the former Pakistani all-rounder has come up with a bold statement about the Indian cricket team. For the unversed, Virat Kohli-led Team India will open their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Razzaq made heads turn with his outrageous statement about the Kohli-led side ahead of the ICC World T20 hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Razzaq has expressed his reservations about Team India competing with bitter-rivals Pakistan in showpiece events. Appearing on a cricket talk show in Pakistan, the former cricketer was asked about how the Kohli-led side has fared against former world champions Pakistan.
“Do India have the kind of pace bowlers or all-rounders like Pakistan, or you feel there is no match?” an ARY News anchor quizzed Razzaq during the talk show. In his response, Razzaq explained why India can’t compete with Pakistan. “I don’t think India can compete with Pakistan. The kind of talent Pakistan has is entirely different, and this I don’t think is a good thing for cricket that India and Pakistan are not having matches,” Razzaq said.
Former world champions Pakistan and India will resume their epic rivalry in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium. Team India has the bragging rights over Pakistan as the Men In Blue are yet to register a defeat at the hands of the Green Army in World Cup events. The Men In Blue have an impressive 5-0 lead over arch-rivals Pakistan across all editions of the T20 World Cup.
“It used to be an exciting prospect and gave players the opportunity to show how much pressure they could handle. So that has gone missing. I feel that had it continued, people would have found out that the kind of talent Pakistan has, India does not,” Razzaq added.
