‘Links to militants’ new excuse to dispossess and humiliate Kashmiris: Mehbooba Mufti

Former J&K chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti  said the Centre was “disempowering” the people of Jammu and Kashmir by suspecting them of having alleged links with militants.

Her reaction came after six government employees were terminated on charges of alleged anti-national activities.

“No end to GOIs farmaans for disempowering people of J&K. Contrary to GOIs tall claims of getting investment to create employment they are deliberately laying off government employees despite knowing that people in J&K rely on government jobs for their livelihood,” Mehbooba tweeted.

Saying that “hounding” Kashmiris endlessly deflates the Centre’s “fake narrative that all is well in J-K”, Mufti alleged that “links to militants is the new excuse to dispossess and humiliate Kashmiris.”

Besides Mufti, employees unions said that the six men were terminated on shaky grounds.

On Tuesday, Mufti had alleged that the Central government is working on a ‘Divide and Rule’ policy with a vision to earn votes by dividing people.

“Those in Delhi are using Jammu and Kashmir as a laboratory and are experimenting here. Leaders like Nehru and Vajpayee had a vision for Jammu and Kashmir. Divide and rule is their policy, their vision is to divide people and increase their vote bank,” ANI had quoted Mufti as saying.

“Sardars are now Khalistani, we are Pakistani,” the former CM said while attacking the Centre, adding, “only BJP is not Hindustan”.

Mufti has also been critical of the government’s decision to change the names of roads, stations across the country and said the dispensation has nothing to project in front of the electorate.

Similarly, after the Jammu and Kashmir administration made it mandatory to obtain vigilance clearance for getting passports by government employees, the PDP chief said they want to run the union territory using force.
