Mallika Sherawat opens up on her casting couch experience and how she escaped it

Mallika Sherawat is a total hottie! She made a mark in the film industry with Murder alongside Emraan Hashmi. Although their steamy scenes continue to be one of the best shot scenes in Bollywood, Mallika has also proved her mettle as an actress with films like Welcome and her killer dance moves in songs like Main Talli. But her journey to reach where she has reached isn’t as easy or dreamy as it looks.

To date, Mallika continues to be one of the boldest actresses in Bollywood. Recently, Mallika went on to talk about casting couch in an interaction. She went on to say that a lot of male actors tried to take liberties with her but she held her ground and refused to compromise. In the same interaction, Mallika also said that she considers herself lucky that her journey to stardom was relatively easier.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Mallika said, “I haven’t faced it directly… My rise to stardom, I was very lucky, it was very easy. I came to Mumbai, I got Khwahish and Murder. I didn’t have to struggle much. But after the movies, because Murder was such a bold movie, and that kind of a bold image was established, a lot of male actors started taking a lot of liberties with me, and they said if you can be so bold onscreen, so you can be bold with us in person also.”

Mallika didn’t stop there. She further said, “They did not differentiate between the onscreen and offscreen persona, so that is where I faced a lot of difficult situations, because I am a very strong woman, and I would tell the male actor, ‘I am sorry, I am not going to compromise’. I haven’t come to Bollywood to compromise, I have come here to make a career. That’s why they have never worked with me.”

Over the years, Mallika has gone on to be a part of films like Hisss, Thank You, Bin Bulaye Baraati, Double Dhamaal, Tezz, Zeenat, and Boo Sabki Phategi.
