Lokesh Sharma, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, has resigned from the post after a tweet he posted on September 18 sparked controversy amid the political developments in Punjab.
“Giving a political colour to the tweet made by me today, it is being misinterpreted and linked to the developments in Punjab. It is a request that I am active on Twitter since the year 2010 and to date, I have never written any such words in relation to any small to the big leader of the Congress and the Congress government of the state, apart from the party line,” Lokesh Sharma said in his resignation letter.
Sharm’s tweet has been interpreted as a criticism of the Congress central leadership, which forced a change in the leadership in Punjab.
“The strong is being tormented, the insignificant is being strengthened…when the fence is eating the crops, who can save such a field,” he had said on Twitter (roughly translated).
Sharma further said that he understands his responsibility of OSD and keeping his limitations in mind he never did any political tweet.
“I have always tried to take forward the state government and the Chief Minister’s talk, the government’s decisions, public welfare schemes and the positive intention of the government. I have tried to stop the misleading propaganda by answering with facts to the people who tarnish the image of the Chief Minister, the government and its activities,” the letter read.
